Momma’s havin’ a porch party to celebrate the Dow closing above 14,000 for the first time since the Great Recession! News reports are flat suggestin’ strong auto sales and optimism about U.S. job growth pushed it over the top! That means we’re just 155 points shy from the all-time Dow record close! Momma’s sellin’ her stocks that hit target profit marks and plans to do some local shoppin’! But watch out y’all! Uncle Fester Sequester’s tryin’ to poop on the party! Somebody tell those fools in Washington, D.C. to fix this mess or we’re gonna sequester ‘em to the out-of-office closet!

Spring is springin’ y’all! I’m talkin’ all ‘bout the first Concert in the Park sponsored by Madison Main Street! OK so it’s all set for Thursday, March 21 at Town Park from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. and honey here’s the best part: It’s FREE to the public! I’m talkin’ bring your blanket, chair and picnic and listen to the bluegrass band Pullin’ Strings! Sounds perf! Oh, and go get yourself a pedicure before the concert at Petals Salon by Melisa Howe or over at The Spa at the James Madison! Can’t wait!

Oh and Madison Main Street Director Ann Huff wanted me to tell all y’all to mark your calendars for the Great American Cleanup Saturday, March 23! The City of Madison is lookin’ for volunteers to walk the downtown streets and clean up! Ding dang! That sounds sort of Downton Abbey-ish! Anyhow y’all, if you want to volunteer, please call Linda Thoman of Keep Morgan Beautiful at 706-342-3156 or the City of Madison at 706-342-1251!

It’s a Charmed World After All! Since we’re markin’ our calendars, y’all get ready for A Charmed Tea event at the Madison Tea Room on March 23 startin’ at 12:30 p.m.! Honey, Kathi Russell wanted me to tell y’all this event is gonna celebrate the history of the Charm Bracelet, so be sure to wear your favorite old or new charm bracelet, enjoy a fabulously delicious tea and hear from a very special guest from Belles, Beaux & Gifts Pandora who’s gonna tell us all ‘bout what’s new in the world of charm bracelets! Oh and Kathi says if you wear your charm bracelet, you’ll get a 10 percent discount for the tea! Ding dang! Oh but you’d best call 248-705-5010 to make your reservation ‘cause there is limited seating and this is gonna SELL OUT!
And, speakin’ of love honey what the Biz Buzz loves best is a brand spankin’ new shop and we’re gettin’ us a new one in Rutledge called Mahogany Rose! It’s owned by Ronna Johnson, who once ran a shop in Rutledge by the same name that closed but was later reopened in Monroe! Now she’s back in Rutledge at 124 Fairplay St., and plans to open perhaps as soon as March 23! Anyhow I peeked in the window and it looks FANTASTIC with fun antiques and Shabby Chic décor and great items like linens, tea ware and more! Y’all are gonna LOVE IT!

What the what! Y’all get ready for Thursday, March 14 at Amelia’s from 12 p.m. ‘til 5 p.m. Owner Kim Watts has invited a French Dressing Jeans fit specialist to come over here to help us find the perf pair of jeans! Momma’s flat havin’ a fit ‘bout this fit specialist! Y’all be there and buy you a new pair of fab jeans! Honey shoppin’ local is fun!
Y’all have got to check out the shotgun earrings and other shotgun items from LilyBeth’s in Rutledge! They are made of real live shotgun shells! Honey, it just don’t get more Southern! Y’all check out the Rutledge Page in this week’s Citizen along with The Rutledge Rooster! It’s gonna run once a month! I love it!
