Morgan Marlins make their way to Augusta

Feb. 15-17, the Morgan County Marlins swim team competed in The Augusta Invitational, which was hosted by Greater Augusta Swimming at the Augusta Aquatics Center.
Several of the Marlins’ swimmers placed highly in the races. Smith Cathey, swimming in the 9&10 girls’ group, placed first in the 50-yard and 500-yard freestyle races, as well as taking second in the 200-yard individual medley race.
Karalynn Clifton, also swimming in the 9&10 girls’ classification, came in second place in the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke races, the 100-yard freestyle race, and the 100-yard butterfly race.
Additionally, Riley Frieson (9&10 girls) placed third in the 50-yard and 500-yard freestyle races.
Colton Patterson swam for the Marlins in the 8 & Under boys races, where he placed first in the 25-yard butterfly and second in the 25-yard freestyle race as well as the 50-yard breaststroke.
Last weekend, the Marlins were scheduled to compete in the 2013 Georgia 14&Under Short Course Championships. The results of the Marlins’ performances in this event will be reported in next week’s edition.
