Emma Drummond Johnson
Emma Drummond Johnson, 94, died February 18, 2013. She was born March 5, 1918 to Columbus and Emma Drummond in Madison. Emma graduated from Savannah State College in 1958 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She married Johnnie Love Johnson in 1944.She taught for over 40 years that covered the areas of Gwinnett, Walton and Morgan Counties.
Emma was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church, member of the Georgia Association of Educations, National Educators Association, Morgan County Retired Teachers Association, Madison Star O.E.S. Chapter # 165 and Blooming Impatiens Garden Club.
She is survived by six devoted sons Johnny Edward (Lillie), Marvin, James, Willie (Mary), Anderson (Patricia and Stacy (Denise); one sister Geneva Hughley of Cleveland, Ohio, one brother-in-law Robert Griffin of Savannah, 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host o nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Lastly she leaves behind three dedicated caregivers Elise Moore, Cassandra Pritchett and Angela Barnett.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Hoke L. Smith pastor officiating.
Pallbearers were her sons; honorary pallbearers were deacons of Calvary Baptist Church; flower attendants were Ariana Jackson, Adrienne Johnson, Nicole Johnson, Tonya Johnson, Katherine Reid, Kia Reid, Shondria Simmons and Sonya Stewart. Honorary Flower attendants were members of Madison Star O.E.S. #165
Final arrangement was entrusted to Jones and Turner Funeral Home.
