Cemetery fencing sample is too modern, commission decides

By Stephanie Johns
Staff Writer

The last meeting of the Cemetery Stewardship Commission (CSC) was “quiet,” according to Monica Callahan, CSC staff.
She said they looked at a sample of cemetery fencing but it was more modern than they wanted. They asked for more samples to look at during their March meeting.
As to the Roberts-Shields Memorial Co. visit, Callahan said the CSC will take that report as well as one prepared by CSC member Richard Simpson to prioritize which memorials to fix this year.
The CSC will try to contact heirs to see if they can help with restoration costs.
CSC members will look over the reports – only one stone overlapped both reports – and vote on which ones to fix this year at their next meeting in March.
