Truman Douglas “Doug” Cannon

Truman Douglas “Doug” Cannon died Friday, February 1, 2013, at the age of 51 at Athens Regional Medical Center. He was born in Forest Park on March 6, 1961 to the late Truman David Cannon, Jr. and Hazel Lee Herrington Cannon. He attended Greene County High School. Doug was a heavy equipment operator and over the years, he worked for Webb Brothers Logging, Joe Parker Construction and at one time operated Cannon Grading. At the time of his death, he was working for Plains Logging. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville. He was an avid team roper of the Wrayswood/Greshamville Community, a member of USTRC, the North GA Roping Club, loved horses and enjoyed helping at the local rodeos.
Doug is survived by his son, Phillip Cannon of Greensboro; a brother, George “Corky” Cannon and wife Marsha of the Greshamville Community; a number of nieces, nephews; and many friends. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Wesley Cannon
Funeral services were held Monday, February 4 at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 1400 Farmington Road, Madison, GA 30650 with Rev. Mike Pritchett officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Charles Crumbley, Reid Ballard, Jim Thurmond, Tim Duvall, Doug Higdon and Chris Minor.
