Rutledge council approves licenses, purchase requests

The Rutledge City Council started 2013 off by approving licenses and purchase requests.
Three alcohol licenses were renewed: one each for Rutledge Liquor, Park & Shop and Rutledge Crossing.
They also approved a new business license for Mary’s Linens to be located at 121 Martha Lane
As to purchase requests, City Clerk Debbie Rutherford explained that some of the historic banners on the poles in town are in bad condition. Council members decided to look into the number that needs repairing or replacing and to replace them with similar banners.
They approved a request to purchase two new computer towers for city hall as Rutherford said that the computer in the office is in bad shape.
Council members agreed to have Mayor Spencer Knight contact the man who made the iron trashcans for downtown and see about getting between six and eight matching trashcans for their park.
They plan to bid out the tennis courts for the park by running an ad in the Jan. 31 paper.
During their meeting they also voted to send three new city employee policies to the city’s attorney for review. Those policies include the “Seat Belt Usage Policy,” “Good Driver Policy,” and “Internet, Electronic Communications, and Social Networking Policy.”
