Morgan County may have a new extension agent in place by March 1, according to Norman McGlohon, Northeast District Executive Director.
“We have done the interviews and are narrowing down the candidates,” he said. “We are hoping the process will be finished in the next two weeks.”
Funding already is in place, he said.
Once a final candidate has been selected, McGlohon said they will take the candidate to meet with Morgan County Commission Chairwoman Ellen Warren as well as Morgan County Manager Michael Lamar to include them in the process and ensure the candidate is suitable to each of them.
The county’s last agent, Bobby Smith, resigned effect Sept. 1. He now serves as program development coordinator for Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia.
