Julia Mae Walker

Julia Mae Walker was born  July 6, 1947 to the late Bessie Cook and Douglas Tolbert in Buckhead. She was raised by Katie “Aunt Toot” Johnson. She was the eldest of six children born to Bessie “Ms. Tee” Cook. At an early age she joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. In 1966 she graduated from Pearl High School in Madison.
She was united in holy matrimony to Jardus (Jerry) Walker on December 25, 1969. To this union four children were born. She worked for Carwood (Monroe), Madison Sportswear, Modern Manufacturing and Sweet Orr Manufacturing before retiring in 2008 from Town 220.
On January 14, 2013 Julie’s heavenly journey began. She leaves to mourn a loving family. Her survivors include a devoted husband of 43 years, Jardus (Jerry) Walker, two daughters, Rhonda Walker and Renae (Paul) Hill, two sons, Roderick (Phyllis) Walker and Reginald Walker, all of Madison; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Walker, Nicholas Walker, Brittany Hill, Bria Hill, Bralon Hill, Damien Walker, Dylan Walker, Kigonna Walker and Kiymora Walker; 12 siblings, Willie (Paulette) Cook, Charles (Thelma) Cook, Patricia (Anderson) Johnson, Levion (Timmie) Lowe, Fred (DeMonica) Cook, Sharon Tolbert Wright, Melvin Tolbert, Kathy (Oliver) Shepherd, Teresa (Willie) Edwards, Sheila Ingram, Scotty (Darlene) Tolbert and Gary Tolbert; 12 in-laws, Linda Griffith, Vermell Sangster, Marion Griffith Jr., all of Saginaw, Michigan, Larry Smith of Shreveport, Louisiana, Shirley Russell, Bertha Morgan, Willie Morgan, Bennie Morgan, Otis Morgan, Danny Morgan, Bessie Hubbard and Linda Morgan; one great-aunt, Hallie Sims; six aunts, Sarah Sanford, Virginia Campbell, Annie Burke,  Gladys (Charles) Smith, Barbara Edwards and Susie Perriman; one uncle, James (Ernestine) Edwards and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 
Mapp-Gilmore Pyramid Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
