Adelaide Harwell

Adelaide Harwell of Decatur passed away January 5, 2013 at At Home Hospice.  Born in Morgan County, she is the daughter of Cornelius Griffin Harwell and Verna Pennington Harwell and the granddaughter of Dr. Littleton P. Harwell, one of Morgan County’s early settlers.  She was a graduate of Piedmont College, and attended the University of Colorado and a retired school teacher from the Atlanta Public School System.  She also was a member of Atlanta First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Eugene Harwell and C.G. Harwell and sister Crystal G. Harwell. 
Ms. Harwell is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Martha and Steve Bartek of Duluth and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ms. Harwell were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 8 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Rev. John P. Donaldson officiating.  Interment followed at Madison City Cemetery. 
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013.
