Wrestling set for this Saturday
Well I didn’t have a Christmas column so I hope that each of you had a wonderful, spirit-filled Christmas. So here we are in the New Year! Can you imagine 2013? At my age that is so unreal. But anyway happy New Year! Let’s hope that so many things like what happened in Connecticut and all over will not happen in this new year, and that the Lord will be sought after in many new hearts and that those that claim the name of the Lord will live and proclaim it! Then maybe the violence that we have seen will not be so prevalent Let’s hope so!
I was so sorry to read about Grady Calvert passing away. I did not know him personally but knew him when I saw him. My brother-in-law Clyde Cannup Sr. worked there at the Experiment Farm with Mr. Calvert until he retired. Then another brother-in-law Nesbit Lawrence worked there after he sold his cows. He passed away after not too many years of working there.
I send my sympathy to Mrs. Calvert and the family.
A few weeks ago I wrote about Curtis Fuller passing away in Putnam County. Now in just a matter of a very few weeks his wife Mary had a severe stroke and passed away. I had known her since she was very young before she and Curtis were married. My folks knew her family since her parents married and before. I graduated from high school with her sister Peggy. Mary’s daughter is Martha Wood here in the county. That is so much grief for a family in just a matter of weeks. Martha I am so sorry. Talk to the Lord and lean on Him. He will understand. Lean on family and friends, too for comfort.
Happy birthday to Jennifer Doran on December 24. Kim Jones’ birthday was December 30. A belated happy birthday to you both. Steve Bryant’s birthday was January 4. Happy birthday to you Steve!
The Steve Bryant family had Christmas at their home.
The streets in Buckhead look nice. I’m not ever out to walk on them but for those that do that is nice.
The Buckhead City Council is beginning to talk about Old Buckhead Days. The date will be set later.
The Buckhead Baptist Church prayer meeting for the month of January is being held at the John Wade home because of it being so cold to heat the church.
Thomas and Leigh Ann Bell have bought the Turner and Dorothy Bell house in Buckhead. This is the home of his grandparents. It is just across the street from Margaret Bell, his mother.
The Howell family children and grandchildren spent Christmas with the John Wades. John and Gail Wade went to Cornelia to spend time with Gail’s sisters and their families for Christmas.
Almedia Smith had a birthday on December 26. A very belated happy birthday Almedia!
We had several friends in one Saturday recently for lunch. We had an enjoyable time!
