Last weekend, the MCMS wrestling competed in the Davis Invitational Tournament at Davis Middle School in Stockbridge. MCMS placed fifth overall as a team and had 12 wrestlers finished in the top four spots in their weight class.
Robert Gibbs, Glenn Tolbert, Dalton Smith, Garner Drummond, and Donavan McElliot all placed first in their weight classes.
Kevin Berisko finished third in his class, while Michael Rhodes, Demarious Robinson, Jacob Peters, John David Bearden, Bryan Guinn, and Mason Adams placed fourth.
This past Tuesday, the wrestling team competed in duals against George Walton Academy and Elbert County to finish out their league matches for the season. The duals will take place at George Walton, and a victory over Elbert will clinch a second consecutive league championship for Morgan County. The results of these duals will be in next week’s edition.
Saturday, the team will be returning to George Walton to compete in the League Tournament, which begins at 8 .a.m.
Next Wednesday, the final duals of the year for MCMS will take place at MCHS against Monticello and Jefferson beginning at 4:30 p.m.
