James Stanley Jr.

James Stanley Jr. of Covington died December 22, 2012. He was the son of the late James Stanley Sr. and Willene Willis Stanley. He was born April 11, 1925in Macon. After high school he joined the U.S. Army. He served in the specialized troop known as the Ghost Army during Word War II, a group that remained classified until the 1990s. After his military service Mr. Stanley obtained a degree from Emory University. He was married to Beatrice Brewer in March of 1949. He then spent his career with the U.S. Rubber Company. He was a member of the VFW and USO as well as the World War II museum.
Mr. Stanley is survived by his wife, Beatrice Brewer Stanley and their children, Janice S. Blanchard (William) of Marietta, Gail S. Swift (Jim) of Dublin and Jim Stanley (Lillian) of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister, Helen Stanley.   
The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26 at A. E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral was held in the chapel at 2p.m. Interment followed at the Bethany Cemetery.
