MCMS ensemble performs at Governor’s Mansion

Guests touring the Governor’s Mansion on Dec. 12 received an additional treat: a performance by the Morgan County Middle School (MCMS) Chamber Ensemble.
This same group performed during the Caroling by Candlelight event earlier in the month.
Fifteen eighth graders were chosen for the ensemble based upon their musicianship and their dedication to come to extra rehearsals, according to Karisa Seymour, the band director at MCMS.
The group prepared for the event by rehearsing two to three times a week over the past month.
The ensemble received an invitation from the Intern Program from the Governor’s Mansion.
During the one-and-a-half-hour long performance they played a variety of holiday selections with full ensembles, solos, duets, and trios.
She shared that their performance at the mansion was “amazing!”
“Great representation of our full band program here at Morgan County,” she wrote. “I appreciate their time and dedication to fulfill this invitation to represent our school and music program in Morgan County.”
