The Morgan County extension agent position posted to the University of Georgia human resources website Nov. 28. Posting number 20121854 offers job details and requirements.
Bobby Smith, the previous extension agent for Morgan County, resigned effective Sept. 1.
The new agent should have at a minimum a bachelor’s degree – a master’s degree is preferred – in animal, dairy, or equine sciences, horticulture, natural resources, plant protection and pest management, agriculture, or another closely related area.
Responsibilities include managing the agricultural and natural resources in the county, which the ad notes includes “a Total Farm Gate Value of approximately $120,000,000.”
Applications will be accepted through Jan. 1, 2013.
Norman McGlohon, Northeast District Executive Director, said they will set up interviews pretty soon after the closing date.
“It’ll take eight to 10 weeks once we get the interviews done to do the paperwork and get them started,” he said. “We’re looking to fill it quickly.”
