• On Nov. 24 a larceny from coin machine complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road laundry mat after a man reported that someone had cut the locks off two washing machines and removed the quarters from the machines.
• On Nov. 20 James Darrell Wanambwa, 20, Sparta, and Terrell Carroll, 25, Savannah, were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence and possession of controlled substance in a drug-free commercial zone after a Toyota Avalon driven by Wanambwa was stopped on Interstate 20 for speeding. According to reports, after the stop an officer reported that he detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly located a Pringles potato chip canister with a false bottom. In the false bottom compartment officers allegedly located marijuana and five small blue Ziplock bags that contained suspected cocaine.
• On Nov. 21 Belinda Harris, 56, Madison, was arrested and charged with shoplifting after she allegedly attempted to take several items from an Eatonton Road grocery store without paying for the items. Reports state that a customer in the store notified management that Harris was placing items in her purse. When Harris approached the checkout area, reports state, a manager informed her that police were going to “handle” the activity. Reports state that Harris then removed the items from her purse and asked that management not call police. She then fled the store but was located at a Hough Circle residence. Items removed from her purse include two packs of ribs, two rib eye steaks, dry pinto beans and onion dip.
• On Nov. 20 a harassing communications complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road motel after a woman reported that a man called the motel and asked her if she was the “pretty one” that worked at the motel. The man called twice and suggested that the complainant meet him and his wife. A similar complaint was also filed from the same motel by another female employee who said that the man told her that he and his wife liked to exercise.
