A fundraiser to benefit Harvey Vickery, Jr. of Madison will be held all day Saturday, Nov. 17, at Cornerstone Christian Center on Main Street in Madison.
Barbecue plates will be sold for $7 and a hairdresser will give free haircuts, donations accepted. Raffle tickets for a free photo shoot with Jennie Berse will be sold for $5.
Vickery fell on Oct. 9. Subsequent tests revealed brain lesions. A biopsy showed that he has malignant melanoma that has spread to his liver, spleen, and brain.
On Oct. 23 he was given six to 18 months of survival.
He finished radiation treatments for his brain lesions on Nov. 7.
His daughter, Jennifer Davis, said that he has no life insurance and so needs to raise money for burial costs.
She hopes to sell a minimum of 100 BBQ plates to bring in the minimum of $700 needed for those expenses.
To purchase tickets call Davis at 706-817-5210.
