Community Thanksgiving service set for Nov. 25 at Grace Bible Church
Mark your calendar for November 25. It will be a special time. The Community Thanksgiving service will be at Grace Bible Church at 7 p.m. with Buckhead Baptist, Swords United Methodist and Lake Oconee Baptist Church there. Each church will take part. It’s good for people of the community to come together like this to worship our God and to be thankful for His provision in each life. Make your plans to be there so that you may see some friends that you may not have seen for a while. And it will be good to worship God together.
The Buckhead Baptist Church Cantata will be at 7 p.m. on December 16. As always the program is always wonderful so you will not want to miss it. The spirit of the living God is there in the music and song. So plan to be there for this.
Happy belated birthday to Laura Massey on November 12! I’m sure that you had a great day!
This was the no-news day No one seemed to have news. Tommy and Judy Lawrence came and brought us some Brunswick stew from the Godfrey barbecue. Julie Godley came and brought a peach pie. All the food was good! Linda Kincaid came too. So for the first time in a while we had company, which we enjoyed.
There were many celebrations on November 11. At my church service members were always asked to stand from different wars. There were many out of the large congregation. This was always a touching time for me since I had had family members in service. There was also the fact that we lost my oldest brother in the Navy in World War II. It touched my heart that these others had suffered and had seen so much. Yet, they were there at church we thanked God for each of them.
The young 21-year-old woman from Eatonton that was killed several months ago in Afgahnistan really touched my heart. She was an attractive young woman who went to school at Eatonton. Her father passed away from an apparent heart attack since her death. Now it is only her mother and her brother. I feel so sad for the family. I do not know them. I have read so much about them.
Next week perhaps I will have more of a column. I made calls but there was no news.
Look for the Baptist Chapel Crusaders paper that’s put out by Teresa Wallace and the youth of the Lake Oconee Baptist Chapel youth. It’s free. So pick up a copy.
