Foot chase leads to drug, weapons arrest

Staff Reports

A 23-year-old Madison man was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 31 and charged with several drug-related felonies and a weapons charge after he led two Morgan County Sheriff investigators on a brief foot chase on Micha Way.
Jamel Rosar Eubanks was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free commercial zone and obstruction of law enforcement officers after he fled from investigators Chad Lanier and Daniel Campbell.
According to Capt. Chris Bish, Investigations Division, Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Campbell and Lanier were pursuing leads in the Micha Way area related to a residential burglary when they observed a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle relevant to the burglary investigation.
When the investigators attempted to interview Eubanks in the vehicle, he allegedly fled on foot but was quickly detained by Lanier and Campbell. Bish said Eubanks had a loaded semi-automatic pistol and a "large" amount of marijuana stuffed in the waistband of his pants.
Eubanks is currently being held at the Morgan County Detention Center without bond, Bish said.
