Y’all hold your horses! Momma’s teachin’ me how to fry chicken and it ain’t easy! Well what the Sam Hill are you doin’ just standin’ there? Get in here and help! Hand me that big ole jar of Crisco! Perf! I’m gonna plop a load of that fluffy white miracle fat into Momma’s giant cast iron fryin’ pan that I’ve been heatin’ up on Momma’s gas stove! SPLAT! SWOOOOSH! Ding dang! My apron’s on fire! SPLASH! Talk ‘bout a disaster . . . I mean where’s Nathalie Dupree when you need her? Oh right! She’s on the cover of the just-released Lake Oconee Living magazine and lord have mercy is that one of our best issues EVER! And, it’s no wonder ‘cause we have the finest team in the country working hard to put out this award winnin’ magazine! People like our Lake Oconee Living Editor Andrea Gable and Art Director Katie Davis Walker along with a long list of great local and regional writers and photographers! Hey and speakin’ of magazines, the national Victoria Magazine (www.victoriamag.com) is all ‘bout Madison this month and just in time to promote the Christmas Tour! Thanks to my good childhood friend Mary Leigh Fitts for comin’ to Madison last year to photograph the story! You rock it Mary Leigh! The magazine features about seven pages of coverage on our beautiful city! Wow! Y’all check it out! According to Morgan County Convention & Visitors Director Ellen Martin Ianelli, the phone is already ringin’ like crazy at the Chamber! Yikes! George Launius wanted me to tell all y’all to get over to Thrifty Mac Pharmacy at 218 S. Main St. in Madison to get your flu shot! Do it and stay well! It don’t hurt too much and it’s only $25! Plus some insurance plans will cover the cost!
 Mark your calendars from Christmas in the Country in downtown Rutledge! It’s gonna take place Nov. 16 through Nov. 18! You’ll get to visit with Santa, take a carriage ride, listen to cool music in the park and enjoy fab refreshments! Y’all call Joellen Artz at 706-474-2290 if you want to be a vendor during the event! It’s only $40 for all three days! That’s a ding dang deal!
The Madison Ale House has closed! But y’all take heart! We’ve had several new businesses open up recently like The Hub located at 125 West Washington St., in downtown Madison! The Hub has some fantastic fashions includin’ great fur items, jewelry and women’s fashions galore! Oh and the super fantastic Teal Couture at 203 West Jefferson St., in downtown Madison is open for business! It looks fantastic and has beautiful, colorful women’s fashions! Y’all need to head over to both new shops and see what they have to offer!
But don’t forget all of our other fantastic local businesses! Momma says everybody needs to pledge to do at least 75 percent of their Christmas shoppin’ LOCAL! The Citizen’s Managing  Editor Kathryn Schiliro even designed us a beautiful logo to bring home the message! The Citizen’s gonna launch our SHOP LOCAL campaign next week y’all!
Yikes! Those Hollywood screenwriters are gonna get slapped into next week y’all! I’m talkin’ all ‘bout Ben Affleck’s new film Argo which refers to the Buckhead Atlanta neighbor as Buckhead, Ga.!
