Daniel Patrick “Pat” Stewart of Monroe passed away October. 24, 2012, at the age of 49 and is survived by his wife Catherine Stewart and son Daniel Patrick Stewart, Jr. He was born in Newnan on August 5, 1963 to Beverly and Don Stewart and was raised in Decatur and Conyers.
Stewart built his career in the golf course and turf management industries, with more than 30 years of playing the game, assisting players, managing courses and most recently was employed at the Chattahoochee Turf Products Company. He loved being on golf courses in the early morning and gave his all to his profession, while giving his life to the Lord. Mr. Stewart loved all sports, especially the ones that involved his star player – his son. Always giving and willing to lend a hand, he was a fierce member of the George Walton Academy Bulldog Nation and loved another bulldog team that resides in Athens. He was a devout Christian, raised in the word of the Lord and throughout his journey in life,he reached out to many people by sharing his faith and leading several friends and co-workers to a relationship with Christ.
Mr. Stewart is also survived by his brother, Greg Stewart, (children Riley, Sydney, Ansley); sister, Kelly Stewart of Conyers; sister and brother–in-law Stacey and Craig Lowe, (children: Toni, Reese, Fisher) of Jackson; mother-in-law Mary Rae and Ted Schmidt of Diamondhead, MS; brother-in-law and longtime friend Jimmy and Jeanie Roberts (children: Madeline, Sidney) and his family of Murfreesboro, TN. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins and a wealth of friends also survive him. He stood by them, and in the end, they were there for him.
The family wishes to thank all of the doctors, nurses, technicians and staff on the fourth floor at the DeKalb Medical Center for their outstanding care, love and compassion during his stay. We love him and miss him dearly.
