Eugene “Gene” Jackson
Eugene Jackson (Gene), 70, died October 19, 2012. He was born in Morgan County August 10, 1942 to the late Fannie Mae Jackson. He was an auto mechanic, which was his love of work on a daily basis. He also operated Jackson Towing along with his son.
He leaves to cherish his memories Emma Briney Jackson; two sons Kelvin (Anita) Jackson and Jerome Atione (KeKe) Jackson; a dear step-son Rodney Keith Briney; six grandchildren Jamonte', Jaquanna, Shadiamond, Jayland, Javorius and Jamarion; six sisters Hattie Mae Terrell of Greensboro, Bessie B. (James) Laborn, Christine (Randolph) Morris of Madison, Betty Lawrence of Greensboro, Geraldine Lawrence and Lillie Mae (Napoleon) Williams, all of Athens; three brothers George (Louise) Lawrence of Athens and Eddie B. Lawrence of Madison; three siblings preceded him in death, Dorothy, Willie and Charles Lawrence; two close friends Leonard Mapp and John Henry Reid, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27 at Barrows Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. W. H. Gaither, pastor officiating. Interment was in Barrows Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Flower attendants were his nieces and friends. Casket bearers were Rodney Briney, Frank Pennamon, Stanley Davis Jr. Derrick Worrell and McKenzie Hall.
Jones and Turner Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
