Della Mae Bohlen, 86 of Madison, died September 18, 2012. She was the daughter of Apolphus Young Sr. and Sally Peters Young. She was born April 24, 1926 in Bostwick. Mrs. Bohlen was married to the late Wilbur Lee Bohlen Sr. She was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church. She loved to work in her yard tending flowers and her garden. Mrs. Bohlen also enjoyed cooking and canning. She will be remembered as a caregiver. She often cared for ailing family members and insisted on cooking for her family.
Mrs. Bohlen is survived by her children, Wilbur Bohlen and Linda and Mack Bohlen and Kay; her grandchildren Michelle Peters and Jeff, Lee Bohlen and Amy, Mandy Smith and Alan, Bubba Bohlen and Molly Tyree and Matt; her great-grandchildren Jessica and Maggie Brown, Virginia Kate Bohlen, Maddox and Maedie Smith and Makayla Tyree; her brothers A. M. Young Jr. and Beverly and Robert Young and Laurene. A brother William Porter Young preceded her in death.
The family received friends Thursday, Sept.20 from noon until 2p.m.at A. E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment followed at the Madison City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Apalachee Baptist Church or Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
