Howard Ernest " Sammy" Tucker, 88, died September 16, 2012.
Born in Winterville, he was the son of the late Lonnie Mell and Susie Casey Tucker and was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Lord Tucker. Mr. Tucker was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. He was a longtime member of Hull Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon.  He was retired from John Deere. 
Survivors include his children, Joyce (Ed) Nelms, Peggy (Roger) Thrasher, Buddy (Faye) Tucker and Barbara (David) Berrong; brothers, Johnny Tucker and Billy (Catherine) Tucker; grandchildren, Jan Bales, Phil Thrasher, Robbie Nelms, Michael Nelms, Marty Tucker, Sonya Davis, Dwayne Berrong and Don Berrong; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 19, at 11 a.m. at Hull Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Crowe officiating.  Interment was in Collier Baptist Church Cemetery.
Grandsons served as pallbearers,  Granddaughters served as honorary pallbearers.
The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m.
