Florida Campbell Prior Jr.
Florida Prior was born in Madison on August 14, 1924. She passed away August 11,2012 at the Prior family home place in Apalachee as a result of heart failure.
She graduated from Madison High School and later attended Valdosta State College where she majored in voice. She returned to Madison and at age 20 went to work at the Bank of Madison where she worked continually until her retirement at age 65. Ms. Prior was baptized and grew up in the Presbyterian Church. For many years she sang in the choir at the Madison Methodist Church and later the Apalachee Baptist Church.
She enjoyed animals, convertibles, reading mysteries, good food and music especially opera.
Ms. Prior was preceded in death by her parents Walter Truman Prior and Florida Campbell Prior Sr. She is survived by cousins Judge William A. Prior Jr. and Donna and family of Madison, Ed Prior and Ivanhya of Apalachee, Mary Glen Prior Crisp of Bryson City, N.C., Everett Shell of Cape Coral, Fla., Nancy Prior Earneston of Palm Beach, Fla., Teddy Prior and Arlo of Palm Beach, Fla.
Arrangements were by A. E. Carter Funeral Home. Services were at Madison Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the old Madison Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
