For Andrew Phillips and Meredith Owen, the accolades keep coming.
Just two weeks after both golfers finished in the top 10 at the Class AA state tournament, Phillips and Owen have been named to the Class AA all-state team.
“[It is] an honor for the school to have such talented seniors,” said Morgan County girls golf head coach Pam Hooten. “It has truly been a pleasure to have these young golfers in our program.”
At the girls’ Class AA state tournament earlier this month, Owen shot an 81 and finished fourth overall in AA. Phillips shot a 73 at the boys’ tournament to finish third among low medalists in Class AA.
In addition to the all-state selection, both golfers were chosen to play in the Georgia High School Golf Coach Association (GHSGCA) senior all-star tournament. Phillips will participate in the tournament June 5-7 at Sunset Country Club in Moultrie, but Owen has declined the invite due to previous engagements.
“We at MCHS would like to wish Andrew ‘good luck’ in the senior all-star tournament and good luck to both of these fine golfers as they continue their golfing career in college,” said Hooten.
