Rachel Lauren Peters weds Russell Dean Sorrows, Jr.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eugene Peters of Madison are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Rachel Lauren, to Russell Dean Sorrows, Jr. on January 28, 2012. Russell is the son of Russell Dean Sorrows, Sr., of Greensboro and Penelope Ann West of Dade City, Fla. The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Nesbitt of Madison and of the late Dorothy Peters O’Neal and Gerald Peters, of Rutledge. The groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Sorrows of Commerce.
The wedding was performed by the couple’s pastor, Dr. Rick Smith, at 6 p.m. on January 28, 2012 in the beautiful Day Chapel at Georgia State Botanical Gardens in Athens with a reception following in the Terrace Room.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, Thomas Eugene Peters. The bridesmaids were Ashley Peters, Amy Conner and Kayla Mitchell. The matron of honor was Chelsea Hendrix Snell. The groomsmen were Logan Ehlers, Justin Stewart and Johnny Smith. The best man was Russell Dean Sorrows, Sr, the groom’s father. Lily Goodman, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl and Lance Parker, cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer. Missy Miles from Florida sang during the unity candle lighting and was accompanied by Jane Shytle on piano.
After a fun reception and dinner, dancing and karaoke with family and friends the couple enjoyed their honeymoon snowboarding in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. The couple will reside in their newly renovated home in the Madison area.
