Wedding: Kurt and Lauren Lee

George and Julie Menke, of Harbor Club, Greensboro, are proud to announce the marriage of their daughter, Lauren Elizabeth, to Kurt Michael Sarbon Lee of Spring Hill, Fla., son of William Michael Lee of Sarasota, the late Gail Rood Lee, and Sara Collison of Henderson, Nev.
The double-ring wedding ceremony was held Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the Cedar Key Bed & Breakfast on the island of Cedar Key, Fla., in beautiful multi-flowered gardens, presided over by a sprawling, canopied 200-year-old spreading oak tree.
The bride’s grandparents include Don and Simone Phebus, who are long-time residents of Frederick, Md., and the late Dorothy Gray Menke and George V. Menke of Barnesville, Md. The groom’s grandparents, David and Barbara Rood, are from DeKalb, Ill. His grandmother, Barbara Lee, resides in Sarasota, Fla.
Lauren graduated from the University of Florida in 2009 and is in Medical School at the University of Florida. She is a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force Reserve.
Kurt graduated from the University of Florida in 2008 and is studying to be a physician assistant and will graduate this summer. He will enter practice with Dr. Joseph R. Locker of the Orthopedic Institute of Ocala, Fla.
The couple resides in Gainesville, Fla.
The maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Christina M. Menke, with sister-in-law Gordana Menke as her bridesmaid. The best man was the groom’s father, Mike Lee. Ushers were the bride’s brothers, Andrew Menke from New Hampton, N.H., and Chris Menke from Miami, Fla.
The ring-bearer was 4-year-old Jeremiah Colon from Pembroke Pines, Fla.
A Christian-wedding blessing was delivered by Ret. USA Col. Wilfredo A. Colon.
After the ceremony, a full-buffet catered reception was provided by Side Dish.
The Pickled Pelican on Dock Street in Cedar Key welcomed the family and friends of Lauren and Kurt for the rehearsal dinner the previous Friday evening.
