To Our Grandchildren
To our grandchildren who mean so much
To hold you close and feel your touch
To hear your voice and see your smile
To run and play; even fish a little while
To see you every day and be so close
These are the things we miss and remember most
How you would eat when I cooked a meal
How you would brag, how good it made me feel
I wanted to see you full; then have a treat
Apple pie, chocolate cake, strawberries so sweet
You were worth all it took, the energy, the time, the cleaning
Wrestling with Papa in the living room, memories with such meaning
It kept us younger watching you play and grow
From fuzz on your chin, makeup on faces, voices changing so
Time passes so fast, the next thing we know
You will come driving by a sports car to show
No matter how old you get or how far you may roam
We’ll be here waiting when you want to come home
Always live well and do what is right
Live in God’s sunshine and walk in His light
Then when our days are over and this life is past
We’ll be together in heaven; a Family at last
Love,
Nana & Papa
