Skate park funding partner back to Walton County

Rutledge City Council members heard at their Monday, Oct. 19 meeting that the potential funding partners for the local skate park had fallen through.
Social Circle's Baldoni family had, last month, approached the city about helping with the skate park portion of their city park, after running into road blocks in their own hometown.
"When they went back to Social Circle expressing to them that Rutledge was interested," said council member Tom Strott, "it was the stimulus they needed. They want to keep [the funding] in Social Circle and Walton County.
"Basically, we're back on our own with the skate park."
Mayor Spencer Knight also reported that survey work on the parking lot paving behind city hall had been delayed by the deluge of rain the county received last month, but the project should be back on track this week.
"Hopefully this week, [the surveyors] will be in and getting all that together," said Knight.
The city will also host a range of Halloween activities during their Spooky Fall Fest this Saturday, October 24, including a Halloween costume contest in the park, hay rides and a trunk-or-treat, which Knight encourages all to attend.
"We'd like everybody to participate in the trunk-or-treat," said Knight, "so bring your cars and your candy."
The festivities will begin at 6 p.m on Saturday, with hay rides kicking off at 7.
