Biz Buzz: Dianne Lively Yost
Rich Buzz. Poor Buzz. There flat ain’t no ding dang tellin’! Dr. Doom (Roubini), the guy who predicted this whole spankin’ bankin’ mess of an economic downturn, says we might be headin’ for a U- or a W-shaped recovery which means Welcome to Roller Coaster City! But wait a doggone minute . . . all this is speculative speculation! Stop the presses! This calls for (now read the next line in a really loud and deep voice like a movie preview) THE OFFICIAL BIZ BUZZ ECONOMIC PREDICTION. Give me that flower! Pluck. The recession’s over. The recession’s not. The recession’s over. The recession’s not. The recession’s OVER! And, I’m OVER IT Y’ALL! That’s right! Let’s start gettin’ smack-dab happy! Hey and to be happy is to SHOP!
Downtown Shuffle. Trust me. There’s a whole lot of shakin’ goin’ on in downtown Madison! Ok . . . So first off Barkin Dog Shoe Company located at 125 West Washington Street is flat on the move! Right! Owner and Madisonian Vicki Hunt told me she’s a movin’ and a groovin’ on over to Main Street right smack next to Amelia’s Apparels & Accessories owned by Madisonian Kim Jensen and located at 127 South Main St., in Madison! It’ll happen by September or sooner! Ok so the deal is this: Barkin Dog is movin’ into the Ruffled Rooster space! Ok so it’s gonna be real cool ‘cause you’ll be able to shop for that perf outfit at Amelia’s and then pop right smack over to Barkin’ Dog for some fab shoes! I mean really! I’m just gonna have to give both shops my husband’s credit card number so that I SHOP TIL I DROP while wearin’ comfy shoes! Oh and a space will stay open between the shops so that you can wonder around both shops without goin’ outside! I really love this rockin’ concept! Oh. My. Gosh! I nearly forgot! Vicki is also gonna be carryin’ some new brands this fall like Ugg boots! Honey I’m gonna have to get me a pair with a brand spankin’ new outfit to match! Lord have mercy!
Hey y’all but that ain’t all! So when I was over at Barkin’ Dog yesterday I saw none other than Diane McElhannon of Briar Rose located at 121West Jefferson St., in the Barkin Dog store with a tape measure which can only mean one thing! She’s movin’ into the Barkin Dog space when Vicki moves out! Are y’all keepin’ all this straight? I hope so! Anyhow, Diane says she’s might open under a new name when the move’s complete but she’s just not sure yet. But y’all don’t worry ‘cause you know I’ll Tell It in the Buzz later. Oh and y’all should check out Briar Rose ‘cause she’s havin’ one heck of a movin’ sale!
Now listen y’all. I know lots more stuff but I just can’t spill the beans yet on account of I might make my sources real mad . . . but I’ll give you a hint. Word on the street is that the Briar Rose space has already been leased or is ‘bout to be leased to another merchant who shall remain nameless until I get all the scoop and nothin’ but! Oh honey and there’s more groovin’ movin’ buzz but it’ll have to wait ‘til another column!
Right! So movin’ groovin’ news ain’t just a retail phenomenon! Did y’all know Kip Herndon is now a Vice President at Bank of Madison? Well! Kip! Consider yourself officially Biz Buzzed! Oh and by the way . . . I just loved that fabulous Bank of Madison ad in the Citizen, only I would of made it a FULL PAGE ‘cause the Buzz LOVES Full Page ads! Hey and I just thought me up a fab idea! I’m gonna call Debbie Tillery of Nu-Art at 706-342-3875 and have her make me up some really cute Morgan County Citizen Biz Buzz T-Shirts that say “I’ve been Biz Buzzed!” Love it! Don’t y’all want one?
Ding dang! Dave Barryman’s no longer at the dang BP gas station on Main Street across the street from the Citizen! I HATE it ‘cause I love Dave! But, honey, I hear there’s a lot of wheelin’ and dealin’ goin’ on over who’s gonna get to buy that gas station! Now that’s what I call a high octane transaction! Wow! I’ll let all y’all know who wins! Oh and whoever does take over, I sure as shootin’ hope you’ll let businesses have accounts ‘cause it’s just oh so convenient!
That’s it y’all! I’ve flat got to go celebrate my birthday by shoppin’! Y’all be real sweet, buy Momma something nice from a Morgan County shop and I’ll see all y’all back here next week: Same time. Same Number One Weekly Newspaper in the Great State of Georgia.
