Don’t make me send Momma over there! That’s right! Stop with the tomfoolery right smack this minute ‘cause we have a super duper important announcement.
    Hey and since they wouldn’t let me set off the tornado siren for my intro, I’ve retained the Morgan County High School drum line over here to help out: Ok drummers . . . . Drum roll please . . . . babababababababababababababababbabba . . . Thank you and welcome to the Biz Buzz for this special buzz: The Morgan County Citizen once again captured the honor of First Place in General Excellence in the Georgia Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest! Hotdiggity Ding Dang Dog!
    Honey, two years in a row is oh so sweet!  
    Check out all these fab awards: First place awards included: Patrick Yost for Sports Writing, Ramsey Nix for Feature Writing, Angelina Bellebuono for Photo Essay, Angelina Bellebuono for Feature Photo, Patrick Yost for Sports Photo, Kathryn Purcell for Education Coverage, Morgan County Citizen for Religion Coverage, Morgan County Citizen for Sports Section or Pages, Morgan County Citizen for Lifestyle Coverage and Morgan County Citizen for Local News Coverage.    
    Second Place Awards, included: Matt Laseter for Editorial Cartoon, Angelina Bellebuono for Best Photo Gallery on a Newspaper Website and Angelina Bellebuono for Best Web Photo.
    Third Place Awards, included: Angelina Bellebuono for Best Photo Gallery on a Newspaper Website, Kathryn Purcell for Feature Writing, Greg Sullivan for Sports Column, Angelina Bellebuono for Photo Illustration and Business Coverage Kathryn Purcell. We also won two awards for advertising that count towards the General Excellence prize, including first place in Apparel, Jewelry and Gifts and first place in Newspaper Promotion.  Whew! What a fantastic staff we have!  Now we just have to keep doin’ better!
    Ok up next y’all . . . Patricia DuBose wanted me to remind y’all that the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center’s Chamber Music Festival which runs from June 15 through June 28 has a lot of hot ticket events, includin’ the Enso Quartet concert that will take place the evening of June 18 at Town 220 located at 220 West Washington St., in the Madison Market’s campus.
    On that night, Town 220 will only be open for concert lovers and the restaurant is puttin’ together a fab buffet supper for only $25! Oh and Patricia says on June 20 The Varsity is bringin’ their famous caterin’ truck over to the Cultural Center from 11:30 until 1:30 for a famous lunch to coincide with a 1 p.m. concert in the auditorium with young musicians trained at the finest musical schools in the WORLD! I mean they’re gonna be playin’ everything from jazzy Gershwin to fiddle music!

    What happens in Vegas Glitters in Madison! That’s right y’all! Ben Whidby, owner of Whidby Jewelers located at 177 West Jefferson St., wanted me to tell y’all he just got back from a buyin’ spree in Los Vegas where he attended the world’s largest jewelry show!
    That means new bling is on the way y’all! Keep watchin’ this column for more!
    Father’s Day is fast approachin’!
