Houstons attend graduation in D.C.

Joy, Joe and Kellie Houston have recently returned from Washington, D.C. where they attended the graduation and commissioning of Josh Houston. Josh graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Elliott School of International Affairs, The George Washington University. In addition to graduation, Josh has commissioned into the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant. Josh reports to Fort Lewis, Washington on June 3rd, 2009 to work with ROTC Cadets in their leadership and training program. Following this assignment, He will proceed to Fort Sill, Okla., for a further work assignment and training. Josh will return to Fort Lewis for his permanent assignment. He is pictured with girlfriend Marisa Howard following their GWU graduation.

Marguerite Johnson is recuperating at home following surgery last week in Athens Regional Hospital.
Trinity Baptist Church will celebrate their 35th Homecoming Sunday, June 7. Ken Ingle will be the guest soloist along with other guest musicians. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the homecoming.

Bill Davis is recuperating at Morgan Memorial Hospital TCU. He has been a patient in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Frances Bell Wingfield of Martinez was involved in an auto accident last week on her way home from visiting her Aunts, Nancy and Ann Avery here in Madison. She is now a patient at Morgan Memorial Hospital where she is suffering from several broken bones. We all wish for her a speedy recovery.

The Ladies Golf Association at The Creek held their second couple’s tournament on Tuesday, May 26. Fifteen people participated in the blind draw format.

Winners were as follows, Evelyn King and Pat Patterson won closest to the pin, Mary Lawton and Ray Hinkle won longest drivers. First gross went to Sue Jones and Tony Sells, second gross went to Mary Lawton and Charlie Fore, Pocket Patterson and Bob Hughes won third gross. Rosemary Hughes and Charlie Fore won first place net, Evelyn King and Ray Hinkle won second place net, third place net went to Claudia Sells and Charlie Fore, Charlie Fore was the big winner of the day.

After the tournament the group enjoyed lunch at Yesterday Café.

Carolyn Maddox has returned to her home following several weeks of therapy at Madison TCU.

Beryl Newsome is a patient at Morgan Memorial TCU.

Sadie Porter, Bill and Irene Paul enjoyed visiting Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Parrish at their new home on Enterprise Road. The Parrishes built a beautiful home on Sadie’s home place. Sitting on the back porch Sadie especially enjoyed the view of the lake and woods and she reminisced about her life on the farm.
