Ruben Walker, long-time tax commissioner retired from the Morgan County Tax Assessor Board at the end of December after 19 years of service.

“I enjoyed serving the people of Morgan County as one of  the members of the tax assessor board,” said Walker. “We always tried to do what was right and fair for the citizens of Morgan County.”

While Walker will miss serving on the board, he trusts the leaders he is leaving behind.

“The board is filled with good and honest people who want to do what is right for all the citizens of Morgan County,” said Walker.

Ron Zay, chairman of the Morgan County Tax Assessor Board, served along Walker for his entire tenure on the Board. Zay has served for the last 20 years.

“Ruben has served faithfully and has been  a definite asset to the board,” said Zay. “He has a wide knowledge of the county and its properties. He has been a very stable element, always providing harmony on the board. We will miss him.”

Although Walker has retired from the board, he is still serving as a pastor at the Church of Christ.
